The money and the trophy was awarded by the education board of the state of Georgia. The board was looking for schools that increased their SAT scores over the years, and Thomas County Central was among the list of Georgia high schools that made the cut!
Teacher Randy Young said, "The main thing was the percentage of the increase. It wasn't so much what the scores were, it was how much we had increased over a period of time, but percentage wise the increase has been pretty substantial, and that's what we were recognized for."
The principal says the $1,000 will go towards school supplies such as books, and the trophy will sit on display, giving the school some well deserved bragging rights!
