There have been not one, but two apologies now from Sen. John Kerry for what he calls a botched joke about people who don't study getting stuck fighting the war in Iraq.
Wednesday night, friends of the family of Lance Corporal Daniel Chaires, the Tallahassee soldier killed in Iraq, are speaking out. They say they're angry over the senator's comments.
Bobby Brantley, a family friend and former Florida lieutenant governor says it was a terrible thing to say, even if it was not intended.
Brantley added, "With all the young Marines and young Army men over there at the Chaires' home, the statement just hit at a very poor time in this community."
The White House said his apology "came late, but it was the right thing to do."
