A hefty reward is now being offered in a Gadsden County murder case. Mary Battles' body was found last month and today her family made an impassioned plea for the help finding her killer.

"It's really hard knowing I would really see her again or talk to her again or never tell her I love her."

Annie Earl Smith is still overcome with grief after losing her beloved daughter Martha Carol Battles.

Early last month a group of fishermen discovered Battles' body in a river just seven miles from her mother's home in Havana.

A $5,000 reward is being offered to help deputies solve this crime.

Ulysses Jenkins said, "We're working very hard we're putting our pieces together and we're missing some pieces. That's why we came up with the reward."

Battles spoke to her mother two days before she went missing, promising to spend some quality time with her, but was never able to make good on the promise.

Annie Pearl Smith said, "We looked for her that Friday night. She hadn't made it. That Saturday we were still looking for her."

Deputies believe Battles went missing either Saturday October 7th or Sunday October 8th. She was last seen in the Frenchtown area driving a green Buick Skylark, which was later found burned off a Georgia roadside.

Now officials are trying to put the pieces of this puzzle together

Mike Devaney, an FBI agent, said, "If she was seen with anybody during those dates, that's what we were interested in. We're thinking with this reward that may be incentive for someone to come forward and provide information.”

Mary Jo Jerger said, "If somebody know anything, could they please call the police?”
