It was standing room only as residents poured in the community center at Lafayette Park.
The building was renamed in honor of Sue Hendon McCollum, who has been affiliated with center since 1957.
Those who know McCollum said she deserves this dedication.
"She was the first center supervisor, center director at the center and she is being recognized for a great career in the City of Tallahassee with our youth and recreation programs," added Randy Trousdell, a former Parks and Recreation director.
The renovation provided the facility with new paint, a new roof and many other amenities.
