Millions of viewers tune in weekly to watch one of CBS's top rated shows, CSI.
The premise of the show inspired some local youngsters to get a head start on their careers.
Safety gloves and goggles are a must when you're handling delicate DNA samples.
Madison Central High School students had the opportunity to solve a crime with North Florida Community College's version of CSI.
But students quickly found out, it's a little different in real life than it is on the show.
"TV has done a lot to promote our business; however, we need to let them know that it is not quite as simple as it seems on TV," said Skip James, the Public Safety Director for NFCC.
"It was more difficult than you think. On TV they just go in and they make it look easy, but then you get into it and it's kinda hard," added Taylor Smith, a CSI: NFCC participant.
But, some things are accurately portrayed on TV, like the importance of DNA.
Students swabbed and tested samples as experts would do in order to solve a crime.
The goal of the CSI project was to get students interested in law enforcement, criminology and science as they prepare for college and careers.
This was the first time North Florida Community College held this program, but organizers say they hope to invite high school students from six north Florida counties in the future
