An area high school band will be marching its way up to our nation's capital.
The Taylor County High School Band is selected to go to Washington, D.C. to participate in the National Anthem Project.
One band and one chorus were chosen from each state, and Taylor County High is Florida’s chosen ensemble.
Students will play the "Star Spangled Banner" with the other bands and perform at various venues.
"A week to do tours of all the monuments and a performance in one of the locations in the capital; this will be a real exciting trip for the kids. It's not too often they get to take that kind of trip to some place like that. So we're really looking forward to making this an especially neat event for them."
The trip isn't until June 12-17, 2007.
The National Anthem Project is an initiative to promote awareness of school music programs.
