Georgia Election Wrap

Georgia has become a rare bright spot for Republicans who staggered under a Democratic onslaught in many other parts of the country.

Governor Perdue coasted to a second term continuing to make history in Georgia four years after becoming the first Republican governor to lead the state since Reconstruction.

Republicans won all but a handful of statewide races yesterday.

In the U.S. House races, two Democratic congressmen are in races that are still too close to call.

In the contest for secretary of state, Fulton County Commission Chairman Karen Handel outpaced Democratic State Representative Gail Buckner.

And state Senator Casey Cagle was elected Georgia's first Republican lieutenant governor.
