Both candidates in District 1, incumbent Wayne Carroll and challenger David Ragsdale, were at the county courthouse when the doors opened bright and early this morning.
At that point the race was knotted 318 to 318.
After a few hours election officials tracked down the last provisional ballot and Ragsdale was declared the winner.
"We're real excited about it. We've had so many people throughout District 1 and Brooks County working for us on this election, and it's quite an honor and I'm quite humbled by the vote we got," said winner David Ragsdale.
Ragsdale says he wants to focus on bringing more jobs to Brooks County.
