A West Palm Beach man is charged with child abuse for allegedly driving more than 100 miles per hour while his 13-year-old son slept in the passenger seat.
Florida Highway Patrol officials say 38-year-old Robert Butler was clocked at 103 miles per hour while driving through an active construction zone on Interstate 95 about 3 a.m. Monday.
Reports say Butler was driving with a suspended license. FHP says the attesting trooper felt Butler's actions warranted a child abuse charge.
He was taken to Palm Beach County Jail and has since been released.
The 13-year-old boy was released to the custody of his 18-year-old sister.
