A local family is still recovering after an early morning blaze sweeps through their home, causing thousands of dollars in damage. The fire erupted at a home on Dozier Drive in Tallahassee around 2:40 a.m. Saturday morning.

Rebecca Figgers and her six kids were asleep when they were awakened by heavy smoke. Luckily, all seven family members made it out of the home safely.

Figgers says it was a scary ordeal for everyone, "I saw the smoke, when I opened my room door, so I ran to the children's area and I couldn't get back there because of the smoke was so heavy. So I just started hollering, calling them and telling them to get out of the house."

Figgers believes the cause of the fire was a fallen candle in her son's room, but fire department officials say the exact cause is still under investigation.
