Another homeless man is killed in Tallahassee. Forty-seven-year-old Tyrone Smith died Wednesday, two days after he was beaten in an alley off the Tennessee strip.

It happened in the alley between Poor Paul's and Bullwinkles at about 11:45 Monday night. Tallahassee Police say Tyrone Smith was knocked unconscious and he has now died from his injuries.

TPD Captain Kelly Burke says, "There were lots of people in that area, the 600 block of Tennessee Street around the bars. We know there were several people in and around that area, and we just need to talk to anyone who may have seen all or part of that incident."

Tallahassee Police want to question two men who sped away from the scene in a dark pickup truck. One is a white man in his early 20s with a buzz cut, earrings in both ears, and was last seen wearing a camouflage jacket, blue jeans, and a white tank top. The other is a black man in his mid 20s, about 5'7" with an athletic build and a goatee. He was last seen in a gray thermal zip-up jacket and a green hat.

Students who frequent the strip say it may be tough to track down witnesses. At that time of night, they say, this alley is usually buzzing with bar patrons and alcohol.

"It happens every week you know, probably not as bad as what happened the other day, but it's really hard unless someone witnessed it and can call it in," says student Mark Ona, a frequent patron at Bullwinkle's.

"I don't hear about much crime or violence in this area," said student Emmanuel Santana, "so that's kind of sad to hear that something like that can go on."

If you were there and saw what happened to Tyrone Smith, call Crime Stoppers at 574-TIPS.
