New Beginnings for Florida Schools

The Florida Association of Superintendents and Florida's School Board Association met in Tallahassee to discuss a number of issues.

They will now be presented to Governor-Elect Charlie Crist for his consideration.

"The first issue is economic development, the second one is quality of life for all citizens here in Florida, and the third part is to provide opportunity to get together to come up with a platform to present to the new governor," said James McCalister, President of Florida Association of Superintendents.

"We simply want to say we want to be on the same page and walk along the same path as we provide an opportunity to educate our children," said Joy Bowen, a member of the Florida School Board Association.

Other issues discussed were the A-plus school plan, standardized testing and increasing recognition and rewards for teachers.
