It was a big weekend for Florida State University's record books-- and Tallahassee's accounting books.
Florida State's baseball team added a couple more to their win column in grand fashion... but Tallahassee businesses added to their bottom line.
The sweet sounds of victory on the diamond... can turn into the sweet sounds of cha-ching at local businesses.
Florida State University is still celebrating its baseball team's record breaking 37 to 6 win over Ohio State on Sunday... and savoring its gains... financial and otherwise from the hosting the regional games.
"You estimate how much you think you can bid and still make money on the regional so you're guaranteeing the NCAA - we'll send a check for x amount. Anything you make above that then can be profit for Florida State," says Rob Wilson, the FSU Sports Information Director.
FSU bid 92-thousand dollars to host the regionals. For the super regional, FSU bid 96 -thousand for a two-game weekend and 102-thousand for a three-gamer.
It's not just the university that profits from having a regional or super regional here in town, local businesses feel the economic impact too.
Garnet & Gold stores made about 10 to 15 thousand dollars more than usual in sales during the regional games this weekend.
Scott Mehr, Garnet & Gold's general manager, says, "If we can get the baseball super regional it would surely help out, not just Garnet & Gold, but probably all the retailers."
That includes restaurants like Po Boys... which saw about a 20 percent jump in business during regional play... and owners say they're hoping for the super regionals.
"Having the regionals and super regionals here is an awesome thing for all of Tallahassee. You know, fill up the hotel rooms, have the restaurants be busy, those type of things which we wouldn't see right now if this wasn't going on," says Carmen Calabrese, one of the owners of Po' Boys.
"And we'll wait until 11 o'clock tonight," Calabrese adds with a chuckle.
And just as many hoped, late Monday night, the NCAA announced FSU will host the super regional this week.
There are a few factors the NCAA considered... Arkansas had a bigger baseball stadium so they have more seats... but FSU is the higher seed.

I did watch the news at 11:00 last night just to see what the announcement would be, and absolutely nothing, that I ever heard was on it, what did happen?
