FSU Boasts Bar Exam Success

Longtime FSU law professor Chuck Ehrhardt remembers the first graduating class of 1969.

"There was great joy when it was announced 100 percent of the class had passed the bar exam, and since then we've had great success," Chuck says.

Most recently the College of Law has been ranked first in the state for graduates passing the bar. Dean Donald Weidner says its because the school has remained small and maintained a high level of student/faculty interaction.

"We try to have accessible faculty, not just inside the classroom, but outside in the hallways, in offices. My door stays open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.," says Weidner.

The College of Law also boasts a 97 percent job placement rate within nine months of passing the bar. To second year law student Lora Bedford, those statistics translate into one thing.

Eighty-five percent of FSU law graduates taking the big test for the first time passed the 2003 Florida Bar Exam. Of the last four bar exams, this is the third time FSU has ranked first.
