The Leon County School Board swore in three members for another four years.
Joy Bowen, Shelia Costigan and Maggie Lewis-Butler ran unopposed and kept their seats. The entire board also elected Lewis-Butler to serve as chair for the next year. It was also the first meeting for new Superintendent Jackie Pons.
Pons said, "I've just got a lot of confidence in our school board. I think they provide visionary leadership. I'm very excited about working with them. I think we share some of the same visions and I want to do everything we can to ensure every Leon County school child is successful."
Pons says one of his first goals is boosting high school graduation rates.
