The Refuge House for victims of domestic violence is asking the community to adopt families for the holidays.
From toys to cell phones, many of the families need everyday items after leaving their homes with just the clothes on their backs.
"Victims of domestic violence are told over and over again nobody cares about you; look at you. Who are you? You’re not important, and then here comes the community and it shows them that they are somebody," said Volunteer Coordinator Patricia Smith.
To adopt a family or simply donate gift items, call the Refuge House at 922-1212, x 1016.
