Deputies are releasing a composite sketch of a man who tried to kidnap a child from Tallahassee's Ruediger Elementary School.
The teacher's aide who confronted the man spent Tuesday afternoon helping a police artist draft a sketch of the suspect. It shows a black man in his twenties, clean shaven and with a light complexion.
Deputies and school leaders hope the sketch will lead to an arrest and some peace of mind.
LCSO Spokesman Sergeant Chris Chase said, "We're probably dealing with a local person so we're hoping someone will recognize him and say that is this person and they live in this area."
"My hope is that the individual can be caught and if it in fact was an abduction attempt, that he can be handled through law enforcement so that he doesn't bother any children at any time," said Ruediger Principal Carolyn Spooner.
A school safety team was at Ruediger Tuesday mapping out spots for surveillance cameras which will soon be installed on campus.
The school district is springing for those as well as a paid hall monitor to patrol the school breezeways.
If you have any information on the kidnapping attempt, call the Leon County Sheriff's Office at 850-922-3300.
