FAMU Student Body President is Impeached

In the spring of 2003, an alleged violation of election codes forced FAMU SGA presidential candidate Larry Rivers to take his battle to administration. He won and also won the election.

Wednesday, FAMU students opened the school paper to find their president impeached. Some students see it as payback.

In a 14 to one vote Monday the student senate voted to impeach Rivers. The reason centers on an alleged breach of student government policy, accusing Rivers of failing to properly advertise vacancies in student government and appointing unqualified candidates.

Senate president Michael Morton says Rivers was also unwilling to meet with the senate as a whole. Rivers denies any wrongdoing. A trial date before the student supreme court has not been set.
