Members from Florida A&M's Psychology program teamed up with Mayor John Marks for the 2ND Annual "Embracing the Community" event at the Orange Avenue Community Center. This year's focus: teaching children driving safety. Children showed off some acting by participating in skits, which showcased proper safety procedures to use on the roadways. Melanie Johnson, the event coordinator, says, "It's important for the younger generation to see college students and adults closer to their age promoting the importance of driver's safety. And it's important to wear seat belts and properly strap your children in the car at all times." The kids also had a chance to get their faces painted, make arts and crafts, and even indulge in some food.
