Study Weighs in on Florida's Booming Population

A new study by a group called 1,000 Friends of Florida concludes the population of the Sunshine State will double between now and 2060 a total of 36 million people.

The study also shows the total urban area in Florida will double, which means more roadway congestion.

The study's findings go on to say that if current trends continue, there won’t be any open space left in Florida except for the Panhandle and the Big Bend regions of North Florida.

Sponsors of the study say it’s a warning and a wake up call about the need for better growth management.
