Folks were given a peek inside the fort and volunteers even recreated history for the event.
Tallahassee Mayor John Marks helped cut the ribbon, completing the dedication of the historical landmark. Many people hope the new addition to Mission San Luis will increase tourism.
Mayor John Marks said, "We not only want all Floridians to come and visit, but we want the nation to visit. It's going to be something like a kin to Jamestown in Virginia. We're going to make this that kind of amenity for the state of Florida and for Tallahassee.”
If you didn't get a chance to check out El Castillo de San Luis during the dedication ceremony, the official opening will be in January.
