UF's Top Official Makes Big Bucks

University of Florida President Bernie Machen, one of the highest-paid presidents among the nation's public universities, received $285,000 in bonuses, bringing his total annual pay to more than $730,000.

The Chronicle of Higher Education reports that Machen is the sixth highest paid president of a public university in the country. The highest paid public chief is University of Delaware President David Roselle, who makes more than $979,000.

The American Association of University Professors reports that presidential salaries have been on the rise nationally for the past 10 to 20 years, but faculty salaries have not increased at the same pace.
