Brandon Barden threw for one touchdown and scored another as Lincoln County captured its eleventh Georgia High School Association state championship today with a 21-14 victory over Clinch County.
The Red Devils (14-1) lifted coach Larry Campbell's coaching record to 403-69-and-3 with the victory in the Class A state championship game.
Braden scored on a one-yard run in the first quarter and connected with Jatheus Jones on a 22-yard scoring pass 1:47 before halftime to give the Devils a 21 to 7 halftime lead. The Red Devils broke a 7 to 7 tie in the second quarter on Darell Norman's 66-yard T-D run.
Clinch (12-3) gained a 7 to 7 tie in the first when Dexter Reeves scored on a 62-yard run and the Panthers weren't able to generate much offense until scoring again with only 3:21 left in the game.
