Another law enforcement training academy is joining forces with TCC's law enforcement academy and moving in. Also new buildings are being built and an additional 800 acres have been purchased.
A topping out party to celebrate the near completion of this new building is just the start of a 20 million dollar expansion at TCC's law enforcement academy and state agencies are responding. The entire Florida Highway Patrol's training academy is moving in.
FHP officials say partnering with a community college is a good move.
The academy will house the entire spectrum of state and local law enforcement agencies. Officers say the diversity will only help training overall. Currently, the academy trains around eight thousand students.
However, once everything is completed in December of 2004. The academy is looking at more than 12,000 future law enforcement officers.
