The rattlers' band accepted an invitation from recording artist Prince to join his Superbowl halftime performance. FAMU school officials said Prince requested "The Hundred" after watching them on stage with Kanye West and Jamie Foxx at the Grammy's.
"It speaks to the quality of our program and I think to that it speaks to our great city of Tallahassee, our great Florida A&M University and the kind of administrative support we receive for the band program and I think its just an extreme honor," said Dr. Julian E. White, Director of Bands at FAMU.
University officials said the details of the contract will be worked out when school resumes. The band is also slated to entertain the crowd watching the parade for Governor-Elect Charlie Crist's inauguration.
