FEEDING THE NEEDY
It started with feeding and helping a couple dozen people around Christmas time. Thanks to a gracious community, one local church is now able to feed over 1,000 people in one day.
Barbara Davis is receiving bundles of clothes for her family and says, "I feel it's a blessing for people who don't have."
King Soloman Missionary Baptist Church says they'll feed and provide for about 1200 people. Rev. J.D. Martin says, "It's one of the most joyous times of year for us to give back to the community and you know we just started feeding 26 people 9 years ago."
Not only can you get food here, but toys, shoes, and clothes. Jimmie Harrison is a recipient and said, "It's a blessing for what they're doing for the community, you know, and I just thank God that I am here to see this."
Most of these items will be sorted and taken to area shelters. Most meals are being fixed to go and will be taken to elderly members of our community. Church officials say this event would not be possible without its volunteers, both big and small. They consider this year's event a huge success.
