A Davie woman was hospitalized in urgent trauma care with serious burns after her Christmas tree went up in flames.
Becky Watson was rushed to the hospital yesterday with serious burns. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the state fire marshal.
Witnesses say Watson told them she was inside the house yesterday when she suddenly noticed that the tree was on fire. She tried to put out the fire with a glass of water, but the tree quickly went up in flames.
A neighbor says she was sitting in front of her home when she saw Watson come out of the smoking house. Watson crossed the street and collapsed in her neighbor's yard.
Watson was taken to Broward General Medical Center and later airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
A nurse at Jackson Memorial said today that Watson is in good condition.
