Tallahassee police say at around 7:15 Sunday morning near the intersection of Orange Avenue and Lake Bradford Road, a large branch fell off a tree taking power lines and a telephone pole down with it. The incident left a couple hundred customers, including Gloria Ford, in the dark. "I heard this big sound, but I guess it was a transformer blowing from a power outage. What made me get up was tires screeching down the road and I thought it was a big accident so I got up to look out and there was this big tree over the power wires."
Power was back up about mid-morning on Sunday. Part of Orange Avenue was closed for most of Sunday as utility crews tried to clean up the area.
