A player for the Denver Broncos is shot and killed.
Authorities in Denver say cornerback Darrent Williams died early New Year's Day morning in a drive-by shooting as his stretch limousine was sprayed with bullets in downtown Denver.
There were at least eight bullet holes in the limo.
Two other people in the limo were wounded but survived.
Police are searching for suspects and interviewing witnesses.
Williams, who is described as well liked, had said he would return to his hometown this off season to talk to kids about staying out of gangs.
