The Valdosta State University campus and football field remain quiet as the school mourns the loss of Broderick Blue, 22, a student and defensive lineman who was killed July 5th when he crashed his motorcycle in Perry, Florida.

His friend says Blue had so much to offer and his life was cut far too short.

"I think that Blue's future would have been very very bright," said Shamika Crawford, Blue's friend. "I mean he was in summer classes. He was set to graduate in the fall, I mean I think that beyond football, he could have definitely did something great with his life."

It was standing room only for all the family and friends that flooded the funeral service held at North Florida Community College in Madison, Florida Saturday.

Van loads of VSU players also showed up.

Some brought their jerseys.

Not having number 51 run on to the field this fall will be emotional, but there was more to Blue than football.

"He was a great person to have in your life," said Danielle Bryant, Blue's ex-girlfriend. "I could be sad and he could just look at me and I would just bust out in laughter. I laughed the whole time we dated. He was great."

And everyone who knew Blue, whether it was one of his coaches or classmates, agrees that having a person like Blue in your life was priceless.

Blue is survived by his two-year-old daughter SiMaya.
