Florida State University, along with area law enforcement came together to honor a fallen comrade. Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium, more than 100 officers from various departments collected donations for the Dale Green Memorial Fund.
The donations will go to the family of Green, a former FSU marching chief and Tallahassee Police Officer who died last year in the line of duty. Green's friends say he's only getting back what he put into his community.
"I think we as a community owe Dale a debt of gratitude for the service he provided with his years, not only as a police officer but also in his work with youth ministries, I don't think there is a more noble cause than to assist somebody who served his community as well as Dale Green did," said SGT James Fairfield of the Tallahassee Police Department.
November 13th marked the one-year anniversary of Green's death. Coy Evans, the man accused of killing green during a home invasion robbery, is awaiting trial.
