ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Police say a woman's bra kept her from being seriously injured by a falling bullet on New Year's Eve in Florida, where many people follow a custom of firing guns into the air at midnight.
Forty-six-year-old Debbie Bingham of Atlanta was visiting family in St. Petersburg when a falling .45-caliber slug struck her bra strap.
St. Petersburg police spokesman George Kajtsa says Bingham was outside viewing a fireworks display when she felt a sharp pain in her left shoulder.
The bullet was lodged in the bra strap. Bingham required five stitches.
