Multiple Fatal Accidents in Madison County

A car accident turns fatal, as a man fails to stop. 32-year-old David Langford ran his car off the road and crashed into a tree, resulting in his death.
Bruce Bassett lives near the accident sight. He awoke to sirens. "It's well marked there's a stop ahead sign and a slowdown sign. But people just don't pay attention sometimes. It's a shame because he's somebody's son."
But this accident just marks one of five recent fatalities in Madison County. Florida Highway Patrol says the string of fatalities started December 27TH. Then on New Year's eve a 15-year-old lost his life, New Year's Day claimed another life, and on January 5TH another death from a traffic crash.
Howard Pickels, a Madison County resident, says, "It seems as though people are in too big of a hurry. They are not paying attention to where they are. They are in too big of a hurry to get there and maybe not knowing roads really well enough to be driving the speed that they're driving."
Lately the roads in Madison County have become deadly, and with the large number of recent fatalities residents are concerned about getting behind the wheel.
Ben Pickels is a motorist concerned about his safety. "One of the garbage trucks almost ran us off the road. It came over in my lane so I swerved and hit the ditch and I almost ran off the road and flipped it."
One thing many Madison County residents agree on is drive carefully, which could be the key to saving lives.
All the recent fatal accidents in Madison County are still under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
