It's been 40 years since man first walked on the moon and the Challenger Learning Center is getting ready to celebrate the occasion.

The anniversary of the Apollo-11 moon landing isn't until Monday but the center already has programs planned.

A "Moon Camp" will be held next week, as well as a public showing of a movie highlighting Apollo 11's mission.

The center says they try to teach kids about a future in space exploration.

"We want to inspire that next generation of children to want to go and either be part of the ground crew, to do the assistance with exploration possible develop unmanned satellites, that are going to go study, to maybe even themselves want to be astronauts and go into space, says Susan Borland, educational coordinator at the Challenger Learning Center.

At 6 PM on Monday, the Challenger Learning Center will be holding a special show about the moon in the Planetarium.

At 7 PM, there will be a showing of 'Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon", a movie about the 12 men who have walked on the moon's surface.
