There are more questions than answers Wednesday afternoon after the body of a Grady County woman is found on the front porch of her home early Wednesday morning. Investigators are calling this a suspicious death.
Around 7:00 Wednesday morning Cairo police got a call from someone who saw the body on the porch. They arrived at 1176 Calvary Road and found the woman dead, lying face down.
Investigators say what makes this a suspicious death is that the 33-year-old woman was in perfectly good health. Folks stood around for hours Wednesday morning trying to make sense of everything after the lifeless body of 33-year-old Corinthians Allen Johnson was found on her front porch with her purse still laying where it had fallen.
"It's sad being that it's so close to home it's a lot of people in the area that stay around here and being that it's so close it makes it real scary," said Andrea Thornton.
Scary to know something like this happened in this neighborhood, and to someone that everyone knew, even if it was just from seeing her in passing.
Investigators say Johnson was pronounced dead on the scene and are still trying to determine the cause of her death. Now, some say they are concerned about their safety in the area, while others say they'll continue as normal but with caution.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigations and Cairo police are still investigating. They don't know if Johnson died of natural causes or if foul play is involved. No one saw or heard anything that could help police in the case. The body has been sent to the crime lab in Moultrie and investigators are awaiting autopsy results.
