After years of being housed in the basement of the Taylor County courthouse, Emergency Management finally gets its own building.
301 Industrial Park Drive is Taylor County Emergency Management's new dwelling. The building provides more space for possible growth. There's a conference room, radio-communications room, offices and a PA system, but the EOC director says the best part is having windows.
Brianne Hoover, Director of Emergency Management in Taylor County, said, "In the basement we couldn't really see the weather that was going on outside and that is one of our businesses, to see what's going on. This building allows us to have access to the outside world."
Hoover says the several decades old building is great for now, but the department hopes to get funding to build a brand new facility that can sustain high category storms.
