MLK Breakfast in Quincy

For the past eight years Quincy residents begin their Martin Luther King, Junior Day with a hearty breakfast.

Hundreds of Gadsden County residents were on hand for the annual Unity Breakfast held at the Joe Ferolito Recreation Center.

As part of the event, guest speakers were middle and high school students who wrote outstanding essays about Martin Luther King.

In addition to essays, participants were treated to several songs from the Innovation Mass Choir. Organizers say unity breakfast is the perfect way to start the day.

Alice Dupont said, "It sets the tone for the rest of the day, so we have a positive start and when people go to the different activities throughout the day they will remember they had a unity breakfast, because that's what Dr. King stood for - unity."

The city of Quincy and the Gadsden County Chapter of the National Hookup of Black Women sponsored the event.
