The Early Bird Gets the Worm

Florida A&M University sets a new record in pre-registration. School officials attribute increased communication with students for helping pave the way.

More than 13,000 students roam the campus of Florida A&M University. Recently, FAMU President Fred Gainous issued a request to these scholars.

As of Monday, more than 8,000 students answered the call and pre-registered for spring classes. Besides making sure you get the classes you need, students say it's one less thing to worry about when coming back in the spring.

FAMU officials say 13,000 letters were sent out encouraging students to take advantage of the early sign-up and a record number of students took that advice.

Students were able to pre-register by phone and on the World Wide Web.
