Remerton city councilman "Scooter" Hines Junior was arrested Friday night while out at the Mellow Mushroom Bar and Restaurant.
He is charged with disorderly conduct. Remerton Mayor Peggi Siefert says she is unsure at this time about Hines' future with the city council.
Word of the arrest is creating controversy in the small community.
"The police department around here really arrests people for anything. I've seen them do some pretty outlandish stuff, so I mean, I don't really think it's that big of a deal to tell you the truth. I mean, he got a disorderly conduct. I mean, we are human regardless of what he does," said Remerton resident Chris Cox.
Hines declined to comment on the arrest under the advice of his attorney.
