Madison County EMS and Fire Rescue crews spent the first part of their week training with an air ambulance.

Paramedics in the county were able to practice air rescue this Tuesday morning using An Air methods helicopter.

While it was just a test run, EMS and Fire Rescue acted as if though it was a real emergency.

They were shown how to load a passenger into the aircraft and do it in a timely fashion to ensure the safety of their patients.

"It's really important that we get these firefighters and sheriff's deputies and of course the public familiar with them to avoid any kind of safety issues and that assures that the patient gets taken care of well. Time scenes are down and we're not delaying care for the patient," said Lucas Williams, a flight paramedic.

The training will continue Wednesday morning at 10:30 at the old Lanier field near North Florida community college.
