Help is on the way for high school students who don't think they can afford to go to college.
The state of Florida is assisting students in securing financial aid. The help is for low income, first generation and minority students.
The volunteer program called "College Goal Sunday" helps students and families complete financial aid forms and get some of the tens of millions of financial aid dollars that are out there.
The announcement came during a press conference in Tallahassee Monday morning. The Florida Department of Education and the Foundation for Florida's Community Colleges, Incorporated say their goal is to increase the number of low income students attending college.
College Goal Sunday is in its second year. More than 1,000 students across the state took advantage of the help last year.
This year's event is scheduled for Sunday, February, 25. There are College Goal Sunday locations in several counties in our area.
