Health Care Program Expansion

Monday, Tallahassee Community College president Bill Law announced TCC's previous goal has been surpassed. He says he now plans to make more room for health care grads.

In August of 2002, Tallahassee Community College unveiled TCC150, a plan to increase the number of students in health care programs by 150 in three years.

Monday, TCC administrators announced the college has already achieved that goal. TCC president Bill Law says the expansion was made possible through solid relationships with Tallahassee's health care community.

“We know our graduates will be in high demand, so we tell them if you can help us with resources, financially or equipment-wise, we can move very aggressively,” said Dr. Bill Law.

Programs experiencing critical shortages such as nursing, mammography, radiology and paramedic flight training are either expanding or being implemented.

Chair of TCC respiratory and radiology programs Dewey Streetman, says most importantly students are responding. Dr. Law says his ultimate goal is to create a health education center on campus where all programs would be housed in one building.
