Governor Pushes for Tax Relief for Floridians

A proposed constitutional amendment would double the homestead exemption; cap tax increases on commercial and rental property, and exempt small businesses from the tax on office equipment.

Local governments stand to lose billions if voters approve, and the governor says they'll just have to reign in spending.

Governor Charlie Crist says, "Local governments now have to do the same thing that families have had to do."

A three-fourths vote of both the State House and Senate is required to put the constitutional amendment before voters in a special election.
