The federal government announced a total ban on sales of Ephedra. Ephedra is derived from botanicals and has been linked to heart attacks and strokes.
Its sale has been restricted in Florida since 1996.
Now the Florida department of agriculture and consumer services says it will enforce an all out ban, once it goes into effect.
FDA officials say it will take about two weeks to put the ban in writing, then another 60 days before the ban takes effect.
