The Liberty County Sheriff's Office says at 11:15 on August 22nd, deputies were called to a home in Bristol, Florida where 17-year-old Carleton Hall held a knife to his mother's throat and threatened to kill her.
Officials say he later stole her Lincoln Towncar and sped through Bristol and during a high speed chase, he rammed a deputy's vehicle.
Hall was eventually caught, and taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for psychiatric treatment.
Carleton Hall is at the Liberty County Jail and faces a number of charges including battery on a law enforcement officer and grand theft auto.

I must admit that this topic has become a very interesting debate! I can agree with both sides and I appreciate Deb & B's Mom's comments. Everyone has their own way of raising their children. As long as what you do is not abuse. Not ever laying your hand on a child can be just as abusive as spanking, especially if you are mentally and verbally "punishing" them. All positive forms of parent involvement are going to work. If you do spank your children, explain to them why they are receiving that punishment. Ensure that your child knows that they are loved and respected even though they are being disciplined. That goes the same for children who are not spanked. My main concern is that children are not being raised to respect others, they are being raised by the television and grandparents that are tired. We as parents must stay involved and educate our children on right, wrong, and achieving their goals. That is our job as parents.
