You may recall in the wake of the 2000 presidential election. President Bush signed "The Help America Vote Act." The law is designed to overhaul the states' voting systems.

By 2006, you will notice many changes. The Help America Vote Act is meant to not only make it easier for voters to vote, but to cut back on the errors and problems that we saw here in Florida during the 2000 presidential election.

Updated voting equipment, either scan system or computers, will be in place. All polling places will be accessible to anyone with a disability, including proper parking spaces, plus accessible doors that are easy to use.

The federal government is going to fund the law, with almost $4 billion to be distributed to all the states.

There are 128 polling locations in Leon County, only 11 will have to be modified.
