Some of the area's exceptional spellers are buzzing their way to the top in a local spelling bee competition.
The best and the brightest Madison County has to offer, are showcasing their skills spelling a variety of words all in hopes of representing the district in the annual state competition.
Eighth grade student Laterrian McDaniel beat out 23 kids, receiving the honor of district spell. The word ‘origami cinched the title for him. Now he's got lofty goals the regional contest.
Laterrian McDaniels said, "I hope I win one day and keep on winning and go on TV one day.
Teachers say McDaniels is a straight "A" honor roll student and a star athlete. He will represent the district in the regional spelling bee contest in Jacksonville on February 24.
