For decades the city has been providing fire rescue just outside of city limits in fire zones one and two, but last December the county announced it will provide its own coverage beginning in January 2008.
A public meeting will be held to discuss the County Fire Department's future.
City officials fear the county split will create duplicate service that in the long run will cost the tax payers.
The meeting, which is expected to be one of just many, starts at 6 p.m. at the Thomas County Courthouse.
