Cook County, Georgia is home to Pastor Chris Newbern of 1st Assembly of God in Adel. And home is where his heart is.

Recognizing that local charities are facing the same hard times as the area’s businesses and industries, Pastor Chris has pulled the community together in an unprecedented way by seeking out local charities to participate in The Pedaling Pastor’s 700 Mile Charity Ride.

Nine distinct charities have signed on to take part in the fund raising event slated to begin September 6th, 2009, with a Ride-Off Rally to take place in Downtown Adel at 3 PM.

After 12 days and 700 grueling miles, supporters from all over the area will gather to welcome Chris home at a rally to be held at the Finish Line in Reed Bingham State Park on September 19th at 3 PM.

Chris hopes to raise awareness for Georgia’s State Parks and Historic Sites by utilizing the parks as waypoints and stopping to visit with local media in cities along his route.

All funds collected, however, go to Cook County’s local charities.

Participating Charities:
-Adel Firefighters Association
-Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Cook
-Community Christian Academy
-Cook B of E Special Needs Fund
-Friends Helping Friends
-Grace Community Food Bank
-The House of Grace, Inc.
-Open Door Christian Homes
-Toys for Cook Kids
