Boating accidents took at least six lives in Florida this Labor Day Weekend, and four of the fatalities happened off North Florida beaches.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says one person died Saturday, 9/5 off Port St. Joe when his aluminum boat was swamped by waves.
Officers say 82-year-old James Pullen of Titus, Alabama was thrown from his boat along with four other people. He apparently had a heart condition and when he was pulled to shore, he was lifeless. The others were taken to a hospital in Apalachicola and survived.
On Friday night 9/4, three people died off Fort Walton Beach when their boat collided with another.
None of the victims was wearing a life jacket.
